FLAMINGO LAS VEGAS

The Flamingo was the first casino to be built on the strip, it was founded by the infamous Bugsy Siegal, and since its inception in 1946 it has anchored the gaming activities on the strip. However, the present property is the result of a complete renovation. It set off the chain of mega-resorts that now dot the strip. Its convenient location just four miles away from the Mccarran airport makes it very popular. Other nearby attractions are the Las Vegas convention center, the guggenheim hermitage museum, and madame tussaud's wax museum.

The 77,000 square foot casino houses 2100 slots and a variety of table games, apart from four shows, in one of which Gladys Knight appears in her own theater. Afternoons by the pool area, which is said to be the largest in Las Vegas, are soothing and pleasant. The luscious garden sprawled across 15 acres contains a 150-foot water slide. Shady palms, lagoon pools, waterfalls and a portion of the landscape inhabited by African penguins and Chilean flamingos are a major attraction. There are five pools, two spa tubs, a seasonal restaurant on the poolside and a wet bar. The Flamingo room is a phenomenon on its own, offering visitors a sumptuous spread of roasted chicken, prime rib and lobster. Other facilities provided by the hotel include currency exchange, conference rooms, banquet facilities, a fitness center, a fully-equipped health spa, and a business center.

The guestrooms are a visual pleasure with contemporary interior designs, spacious furniture arrangements, and expansive windows that offer beautiful views of the typical metropolitan Las Vegas. The standard guestroom has as part of its offerings amenities like in-room safes, internet access, voicemail and satellite TV, and contains comfort accessories like business desks, arm chairs and couches.
